Hi,

Couple of questions.. about downpipe and gutter responsibility..

1. Early Victorian terrace of 4 properties.. 1 downpipe to serve the whole front.. placed roughly in the middle.. whose responsibility?

Is it shared? Or the responsibility of the property it goes down and into the land of..

2. Same terrace at the back.. kitchen building of neighbouring property has a gutter serving half its roof, which overhangs another property and drains into the ground of that property..

Does the house whose kitchen extension it serves have the responsibility to clean and maintain it?

Same situation in a late Victorian terrace of 3 where the middle property is recessed at the front and back compared to the two end properties..

Meaning there are gutters at the front and rear serving both end properties which overhang the middle property.. whose responsibility?

Thanks in advance!

I am pretty certain that it's a joint issue. Each householder responsible for their own bit and ensuring that their neighbour can use it. The house with the pipe has to allow drainage
