Shared water supply

We share our water supply with next door - we're building an extension and have found that all the pipes run (very badly!) through our house and we have the only stopcock on our property. Do we have a legal obligation to continue to fee water through to the neighbour or can we force them to get their own supply? If so, who would pay?

Phone your water company for advice on this one.

Very likely that it wont be them that pays for any alterations though
