Moved to a new house just over two years ago and have lived with the dodgy shed that came with it for all that time. Having two children in that time as well as a demanding job meant fixing up the shed was put on the back burner.

With the weather getting better and life letting up, its time to finally sort this out.

So, outside pics of the shed attached. I forgot to take pics of the inside, but theres nothing surprising there.

In terms of what I'm looking to do, there are a couple of critical changes as well as some that'd be nice to have. I'd welcome any thoughts:

- Roof: the roof is in a sorry state. Maybe you can tell from the pictures, but the roof is sagging in the middle. Plus, on the inside, some corners are visibly wet after rain. Plan is to scrap the current one and redo with chipboard and felt it again.

- Height: I'm not massive and the sagging roof certainly adds to the problem, but I can barely stand upright in the shed. Probably only in the first foot or so. To fix, I plan on replacing the upright supports with thicker (to better support the roof) ones that are longer. Aim to find cladding to match existing ones. Will look to redo the door to increase that in size and potentially add an internal lock.

- Guttering and water collection: plan on putting some guttering on the back edge of the roof that funnels to a couple of water butts that are chained together. There's space at the back of the shed where these should fit.

- raise the shed?: when we got our house, the lawn was just artificial grass and we soon ripped that up and had someone pop down a layer of soil and seed it. The lawn is fine, but we definitely paid a bit of a price for going with the cheapest option as the lawn is pretty lumpy and the soil level isnt the deepest. Am thinking that in time I might look to redo the lawn, so planning for that now by raising the level of the shed seems sensible, otherwise I'd struggle to open the shed door. What's the best way to do this? Take up the floor, pop a bunch of bricks down to give it a couple of inches and then put the floor back? I do have a few concerns that I'd leave that space open to hosting a family of mice that might end up causing problems in the shed though. Any thoughts?

- Power: planning on talking to an electrician at some point about taking a cable from the house to the shed, so that I can power tools/lights/music.

Any thoughts on the above?

Any other improvements people can recommend since im going to this trouble?

Thanks

Chris
