Acrypol would be the best product to use, short of replacing the roof but you might think it's cost prohibitive.

Blackjack sounds like a decent option... would I just paint that along the seem?

Along the seams, and or any other places you suspect might be leaking. ,

I see they also do a flashing tape... don't know if that would be an easy / effective option?

No, that will not stick, so pointless.

Just been looking for some Blackjack or Leak-Stop... there are a few others that crop up, anybody know how they compare?:

At some point I'll be looking at replacing the whole roof

Hidden nail method:

Offer the first piece of felt up to the eaves, with the back of the felt facing outwards, and draping down. Fix it with the felt nails, then fold the felt back over on itself, up the roof. Rinse and repeat.

You can experiment with a piece of paper to understand what I mean.
