Just ordered 5 packs of the cheap 'fast fix' laminate flooring from Wickes (arrived a day late, ho hum).

I noticed one of the packs looked to be bent at one end. I took out a board, looked down its length and sure enough it is visibly bowed.

Opened another pack and it's bowed too - but to a lesser degree. Neither appear to be twisted though.

Should I take them back or will they settle if I lie them flat on top of each other for a couple of nights? Or does it not matter at all?

Never laid a floor before so would really appreciate some advice and don't trust Wickes!

:?

heeelllooo and welcome stevenaive :D :D :D

if you are talking 9mm thick then unlikly to matter with just make it slightly more awkward to connect
if your worried place 1kg on the bump and iff it dosnt drop to within 2mm of the floor let me know

Thank you for the welcome and the reply!

I think I'll lay the packs on top of each other for a day or two then and hopefully that'll help!

Also, I suppose I could use any affected ends for under the architrave etc.

If this is a success I'm gonna be trusted with some decking, that's when the questions will flow thick and fast. :D

dont worry they will go flat as you lay them because the joins and lumps overlap brick wall style so the curve on one will counteract the other

You gets what you pays for.

If you have bought a discounted product then you are unlikely to have any recompense.

well as you know its easy to sort by lifting the ends for a couple off days if you can be bothered
and as you know getting laminate without dammaged edges which will stop instilation is a possibility if you send it back

and as you know once layed the the floor will settle down as one and will not retain any bending forces

it would be different if it was structural timber or boards that are going to be installed vertical

couldn`t possibly comment for fear of incriminating myself

i fully agree timber ect should be spot on and i wont normaly accept more than 5% with flaws[twists wynds bows dead knots shakes cups ect] i will push the boat out a bit more if i can accomdate the flaws within what i am building
so if 1 out off 3 5x1" par boards are a bit twisted and i am making a book shelves i wont worry as the structure will fully hold the problem
but obviously if i have a sheet off 12mm ply and its for doors i will send it back if i cant use it in a box or cabinet form where the twist /bow will be fully held in check

to be fair my local yard know me well and normaly throw in 5 or 10% extra as in
i will ask for 30m 2x1 par and get 10 3.3m lengths so give and take
