Shower 90 degree elbow restricting flow

Hi all,

First time here, any help would be fantastic!

I live in a rented house where the shower pressure is terrible, but after looking into it the problem seems to be that the 90 degree elbow that connects the integrated tap body to the hose attachment out of the base has a tiny internal bore, and after measuring flow ratefrom the tap, it seems to be really restricting it. The intial 12mm input is shrunk to 6mm internally, if not less due to poor construction.

My question is...can larger bore 90 elbows be found? Or is the standard thing that you would get with any 90 for hose connection? The mixer tap has 22mm inputs, seems such a drop!

can you not use it by putting the hose straight on to the mixer ?

the space under the tap body is just too small to get the hose under etc, and it makes the hose too short. perhaps a longer hose with a smaller fitting?

you can get the elbows but not sure on the internal bore.

You may be able to replace the elbow with a right-angle compression fitting tap connector. Remove the compression nut and olive, and fit the hose in it's place.

I don't think I have seen a chromed one though. Only brass.

the right angle compression idea is perfect. They had male to male in chrome...but because the tap body is threaded I needed a female to male, which was only in brass.

The outcome is that with the new fitting my test 4 litre bucket fills 10 seconds faster, a 33% improvement!
