I need to do a shower over a bath and so will be making a stud wall for the pipes.

I will use a hardibacker board up to 1.2m, b ut i have a load of 12mm ply and wondered if it was ok to finish the last metre uptown the ceiling in this ?

Will i get some problems later on ?

What type of ply? WBP would be preferred.

As long as the wall is rigid, it is tiled and grouted properly, using the correct adhesive and grout then it shouldn't cause an issue. You could always tank it if at all worried.

The Mapei kit @ £50 is excellent VFM IMO.

It's std ply, so not WBP.

I am going to prime the solid painted wall with SBR bond as i have been told this will help the adhesive work better. Would this applied to the ply be a good idea ?

The wall will be strong with 3 lengths of 2x2 screwed into the solid wall, so the play will sit tight.
