Shower Basin Not Level: Resulting in Doors Not Fitting

I had a mind fart and forgot to level my shaower basin when I set it. The shower is tiled and complete now. We tried putting in the sliding doors yesterday and because the level is off, the dooes do not close properly. We have tried everything we can think of to fix it but when we do one thing, it throws something else off.

Any ideas?

The only think we can think is to build up the lower side to bring it level with shims or something and just deal with the ugly gap at the bottom that will have to be caulked and painted or something. Looking at a 1-2 inch gap (yes, way out of level).

Any ideas of decorative pieces you can buy or make to attached across the bottom track to hide the gap?

Aaah, a botch job, as we call it here in good old Blighty.

I would take out and relevel the shower basin ( we call our tray ) if it was me.

Taking the tray/basin out would require removing tiles that have already been installed. Tile that is discontinued.

It's likely that you will always have problems with your shower unless you level it. A few mm you can get away with but not inches. Is your tray set on sand and cement? If it's a weak mixture, you might be able to remove it and re-do it and re-tile using a similar tile or make a feature of it. I'm assuming that all the tiles are out of line as well.

Actually all the tiles look good. Basin is in concrete and is not weak at all. We have a couple of ideas and if they do not work, we might be removing the first row or two of tiles and ripping the basin up.

You might need to do that - but what of the obsolete tiles - I`ve sucessfully fitted a new bath with a row of completely different tiles round it to " complement the colour " of the existing wall tiles - It actually didn`t look too bad . The customer ( my wife ) was happy with it - might have had something to do with getting a whirlpool bath for £60 though Good Luck @ Home Depot

Have not gotten back to working on it yet. If we do have to take out some of the tiles, would most likely have to pick an alternate tile as you say to compliment. We have extra tiles but I do not think enough to re-do.

How on Earth did u get it so far out of level - even by eye you should be able to spot that error.!!!

Unless you want it to look like an eyesore, I suggest you remove the tray and install it plumb. Having a 2 inch gap is not acceptable by any standard

I should imagine that, two years on, he's probably got something sorted by now

It's now sloping the other way

I don't understand why people feel the need to bring up old posts for no reason. It should be against the forum rules.
