Is there a maximum length of 6mm cable that can be used for a 9.5kW shower or is it always necessary to use 10mm cable. I only ask as I ran the cable from the CU to the bathroom 18mths ago only planning to put a small shower in and then decided to put a bigger one in. The run is 2m plastered in and 12m clipped to roof trusses above the insulation. I could relay the cable but obviously don't want to.

10.0mm is preferred although 6.0mm T&E will take around 47A (not run in insulation, as this derates to 35A).

6.0mm protected by a 40A MCB will be satisfactory to supply a 9.5kW shower (recommendation should be given to protect shower circuit with an RCD, although no requirement to do so)
