I'm trying to fit downlighters into a 9.5mm plasterboard ceiling. The clips are very strong and I'm struggling to get them in without destroying the hole! Any tips on how I might strengthen the hole in the plasterboard....have so far practically severed a finger on the spring clip. Thanks

Get yourself a big ugly coarse square file, otherwise correctly known as a "ba st ard" cut and file a couple of notches in the plasterboard where springs fit, makes life so much easier.
Alternatevely, only fit the one spring, not the two, once in it aint going anywhere and makes bulb changing a doddle.

Thanks for the advice......ended up using a big ugly husband to give me a hand! (Still got all our fingers and thumbs too although several are now different colours!)

Will certainly use your technique next time....
