The plastic cover does not fit tightly over the nut. How do I fix this?

The nut also does not fit tight to the wall. Is this normal?

It looks like a décor (friction fit/push fit) cover. None of it looks particularly user friendly.

Our plumber despairs when customers get their own gear, only to find they got it cheap but it costs a billion quid to fit, because it's pants and lousy to service.
