shower > how safe?

10mm cable from 30amp fuse in CU unit into isolator then connects to 9.5kv shower,is this safe ?

As Adam mentioned in the previous thread, a 9.5kW shower will draw about 40A. Putting it on 30A fuse isn't dangerous, it will just be more likely to blow.

Your problem is with the consumer unit - older CU's weren't made for loads above 30A per fuse way, and since you have a 40A load on one fuse you are asking for problems. It should be ok for a short while until the CU is changed. Just don't take very long showers.

9.5kw pulls 41.30amps dependent on the method of installation ie clipped along joists, in insulation, in the wall can vary the amount of amps being pulled, so no a 30amp breaker is not big enough, also putting this circuit on an rcd is advisable

ok thanks for the info its just i only noticed this earlier,CU is being swaped for a modern haggler,if thats how you spell it,when the new CU is fitted will the shower be fine as it is or will it need modifying in any way?

as long as you put it on the rcd side with the correct rated breaker you will be fine.
