Shower leaking - combi boiler

We had our gravity fed boiler replaced with a combi. Since then, due to the increased pressure, we have had to replace washers on all taps and then the shower twice. We have now bought a Triton Eden Concentric mixer shower as we were told this would work with a combi boiler. My husband fitted this but no matter what position the lever is in it won’t turn off and water pours out. The water goes faster and slower but never turns off. Can anyone help?

1. Do you know the pressure of your incoming cold water from the mains.
2. If greater than 10 bar (unlikely) it may well damage the seals within the shower and cause it to leak. It could also damage the boiler, and you would be advised to fit a pressure reducing valve to the incoming mains.
3. If more than 5 bar it could cause the problem you describe. Solution as 2. above.
4. Beyond that it is either a fitting error or a faulty shower unit.
4a. Go back over the fitting instructions and make sure all connections are correct, hot in to hot in, cold in to cold in, and output to outlet.
4b. Contact Triton and describe the problem.

Is the main pressure coming in the pressure it shows on the boiler display?

No, this is the pressure in the boiler, which is required for heating and hot water. Your mains pressure is usually measured at a cold outlet. A washing machine connection, for example.

How do you measure it?

With a pressure gauge connected to a mains water outlet ,such as a garden tap or washing machine isolation valve

If you're not sure get a professional in, if you keep blowing seals/washers then you have ultra high water pressure and it will need a pressure reducing valve fitted anyway. TBH the installer should have checked the water pressure to at east check it wouldn't cause an issue with your new boiler.

The pressure needs to be seriously high where it compromising washers and valves and I would have expected it to be apparent @ other valves using the mains before now.
