I have a shower mixer valve that is behind the wall and needs to be replaced. Obviously a swine to get at behind the tiled wall. I will replace it with a surface mounted mixer valve to avoid repetition of 'demolition' in the future.
I am thinking of the Mira excel which has an excellent reputation, but expensive. Anyone got any better suggestions for reliability & VfM.
Cheers

Thanks Kev. Do you agree that since I have to remove the valve I'm better going for surface mount for future maitenance, etc.
Someone told me Bristan valves are good?
I do live in a very soft water area (supplied from Thirlmere &/or Haweswater from the Lake District!!)
Cheers.

yes the biggest fault i come across is the seat
so the valve drips
new valve
so surface is easier if you need to replace it
btw the old man sunk mine so im praying

Quite a few concealed mixers have cartridges you can get out from the front, I think. Admittedly the ones I'm thinking of are expensive ones!

the mira excel can be replaced from the front if i am not mistaken.

really good shower and only £329 from Plumbworld or cheaper on Ebay

I always recommend Scpetre from City Plumbing (and I alwas recommend surface mount unless easy access)
