Hello,

suddenly no more than a dribble or nothing at all from 4 year old electric shower. However, if I turn the shower on and then turn the basin or bath tap on just for a second, the shower will come on.

Happy to get a new one if needed but just wondered if there might be a fix for this.

Cheers

Is it in fact a power shower i.e. a shower pump ? This type need a bit of water flow to start the pump so you opening a tap causes a shock wave in the pipe causing the pump to start. You need to check why there is not enough flow to trip the switch to start the pump. Isolating valve not fully open or something stuck in the shower pipe. Sometimes there is a little gauze filter in the shower pipe which can get blocked.
(Electric showers are mains fed so should not get stuck).

Not a power shower, just straightforward basic shower. I wouldn't have thought there was a blockage as when it does work it's fine. It does seem as if something is sticking or stuck as when you turn on a tap you can hear the flow changing in the shower.
