Hi guys,

first post on this site/subject; massive user and adviser on avforum.

Anyway, I had a new ensuite bathroom installed Oct 2004. For the shower, I researched and purchased a Stuart Turner ShowerMate 1.8 bar Twin Pump for £185. It is absolutely brilliant and has never had a problem. This week, however, it has started locking up and dropping to normal mains pressure (unbearable). To explain, it only happened a couple of times over last 3 weeks, then it happened every time it was used over weekend, but was then ok this morning for me, but went again just now for missus.

The fault is that it starts ok, then about 3-4 seconds later the pump stops, so you have to switch of shower handle and back on again, it then starts up ok and runs again for a few seconds then stops again. It is very annoying to have to keep switching shower on and of 20 times just to have a wash!

I have given it a gentle bang around in case something is sticking, but this didn't help (or make it worse).

Any ideas on how I could fix this, or, as it is over 3 years old, does it just mean this is normal and I should go out and buy a new one?

cheers

Simon

BUy a kit of flow switch service bits from showerdoc.com, where you'll find pictures an all that.

WHat's avforum?

Ok, thanks will take a look. Didn't know they needed servicing. AVforum is for audio-visio geeks; plasmas, amp, speakers, dvd etc lol

Is my particicular pump easy to take apart and put back together again; it seems pretty big job as it has 4 pipes conected to it, can see a lot of water spilling even when I isolate water!
