A few weeks back my shower pump started coming on just after the toilet was flushed, this mornig it is just come on and not stopped - and no the show is not on, any suggestions?

Thanks

Sounds like the switch (which turns on the motor when water is flowing and off when it stops) has somehow jammed. First thing to do is to turn off the power to it (doesn't sound like you have yet).

I would guess that the reason it was turning on when flushing your toilet is because the pump does not have its own hot and cold feeds but has instead been fitted to the existing hot and cold pipes. Flushing the toilet causes a slight pressure drop in the cold feed pipe, the motor comes on.

If you know which brand of pump you have, contact their technical support line and see if you can get a new pressure switch. If not, you might need a new pump.

Sorry I meant to add that, the only way I can shut is off is at the fused spur switch, but do you think a new pump would definitely solve it as I may just opt for that anyway.

Thanks

Is the switch easy to get hold of and change??? Full explanation (and diagrams) would be lovely

Thanks

Yes, switch is definitely cheaper than a new pump!

As has been said, make and model are useful. Spares should be available at all good plumbers' merchants, although most likely they will need to order them in.

Another question: Is your shower mounted BELOW the COLD water tank, or is the cold water tank on a similar level (e.g. if this bathroom is in a loft conversion)? (just in case: I'm thinking it might be something to do with a negative head kit, although I should point out I am not a plumber)

At least you can run your pump manually for the time being, I would hate to be without my shower pump for any length of time :D

The Shower is in my nans retirment flat, so its all pretty much on one level, the tank is about 2-3 mtrs from floor in the airing cupboard.

Does this help

Just found out that the pump is a Watermill BP 65, is this a pump anyone is familier with.

Thanks
