Hi all,
I was called to a job today to repair a pump that is used for pumping away the waste water from a walk in shower.
The pump is fitted in an IP55 enclosure. The enclosure consists of a 230v supply feeding a transformer which powers a PCB which controls the pump along with a flow switch which is connected to the cold feed to the shower.
The problem I have is that this IP55 enclosure is located in zone 1. After looking through section 701 of the regs I feel that this fails to comply.
The regulations clearly state that in 701.55 'current-using equipment' that shower pumps are permitted provided it is suitable for zone 1 according to the manufacturer's instructions but the enclosure contains other equipment such as the transformer (the safety source) and 701.512.3 'controlgear' does not permit the presence of the safety source within this zone.
The enclosure and parts look like they have been specially put together for this job.
Any thoughts and opinions are appreciated.
Thanks
