I know what you mean, but it's probably a pushfit connection of the John Guest variety. If there are any valves on the outlet then you could uncouple from one of these (after shutting off on the inlet), and control the flow of water using the inlet valve.nabby68 said:i will try your suggestions, but your last suggestion of removing one of the outlet hoses from the pump sounds a bit tricky because i have looked at the hoses going into and out of the pump and these look as though they may have some kind of bayonet fitting?
Possibly - how many turns did it take to open each gate valve?i forgot to mention that the inlet hoses both have gate valves connected to them and i had closed these and open these several times during my plumbing alterations, could one of these be sticking?
