Aft'noon all...

Got a Bristan shower that doesn't regulate the water temperature properly, there are no issues with the temperature of the water coming from the basin taps in the same room (or anywhere else in the house for that matter) but the shower sometimes doesn't warm up and sometimes cools down while in use.

Can this be repaired, would a repair be economical or should I replace the unit? If so any suggestions for a decent quality, reasonable priced replacement would be welcome.

Thanks for listening... DM.

A new cartridge should sort it quickly if you're sure you can identify the model.
Though you can get a whole new rail/riser/head set for not a £ot.

Bristan seem to have morfed into Iflow in some merchants

Cheers Chris, I'll see if I can identify the cartridge and compare the cost against a whole new assembly :D

I have had an issue with Bristan they are a good supplier, they informed me the shower I had came with a 5 year warranty that would be honoured if I could find the bill of sale. How old is it? I managed to repair by stripping down and lubricating.

Scooby - it's less than 5 years old but was installed by the previous owner so no receipt... I'll dismantle it later and see what gives...

Took it apart this morning and found bits of broken plastic in the temperature control end. Doesn't seem worth replacing those bits as well as a cartridge so have ordered a new unit complete with hose, head, rail etc for £60.

Thanks again for the helpful comments - much appreciated. DM.

p.s. watch out for my next post on a $hit house that isn't working (and I don't mean myself!).
