I am building a stud wall on one side of the shower. So far have put down about 15cm timber on the floor. The shower tray has a upright seal around it. Now, I assume the tiler will tile over the seal, but the backer board will need to got on the dry side. So, guessing that I need to build the wall about 12mm from the seal?

only pic I could find ...

When we built ours it was as you say, stud work then plasterboard/backer board then seal onto this and tiles to finish.

Yeah. Left a 12mm gap for backerboard.

If I hadn't run out of screws it would be finished!
