shower tray gap

the shower tray i am fitting tapers in from the bottom to the to the top of the sides which means when it goes in against the wall there is a gap all round and as the wall is out of square the gap is about 12mm at the edges and the tiles are not going to come onto the top of the tray how can this problem be solved
 
Fit the tray then fit plasterboard over the existing substrate,gripfill the gap aronud tray,tank then tile.
