Electric shower trickling when turned off. Push button type. Fairly old unit.

I have been turning the mains off alot to fit bath suite (not shower as over bath).

Last time I turned it back on and switched on shower the shower unit nearly exploded (not quite).

Ever since it been trickling and have to switch off mains to stop. Noise of water trickling through can be heard inside shower unit. Water is only coming out of shower head.

Grateful for any advice.

Thanks

Rich

In turning off/on the mains it's possible that:

1. Disturbed grit has lodged in the soleniod valve;
2. The explosive force of trapped air has damaged the valve.

Either way, with most electric showers you can replace this part, but you need to know what you're doing with isolating both the electrics and the water supply.

Could you reveal the make and model of the shower?

When you say 'isolating the electrics and water' do you just mean turning off the mains switch and mains water?

Cheers
