Hi my shower handle has been getting harder to turn on and off I've got to find out what cartridge I need , I I've took the handle off but don't know what to do next. Do I remove the whole chrome surround the chrome around the cartridge doesn't twist off unless that's stuck as well. I do remember changing this many years ago but wish I had photographed the steps.

It appears it will be just stuck and is a slide on sleeve if you look at the items on the exploded view here in spare parts tab
thanks, show its looks as if it just twists off, I'll give it another go.

it looks like i need 18 shut off unit with selector 96509000, I'll also have a google for that part to see what i can find online. thankyou for helping

I would not have thought so as it does not show a lip of any kind on the sleeve. Unless it is tapered which I doubt. Just looks like limescale around where the sleeve passes through the plate so perhaps that is what is holding it. The Allen key and hole in diags 1 & 6 are a bit confusing though. Does that shaft screw out.

thanks, managed to get the outer surround off with careful prising and taking photos so i remember for next time. the sleeve unscrews which is why it wouldnt come off :)

Well done
still havent worked out what model i have as a shower as several valves are used from what i can see across the ranges (would be)

I was going for that one, and the part number on there, might be able to find one at screwfix.

Im assuming i need to have the water off before i remove that valve :), if i take the valve out today we will have to use the other shower until i get the part with it still removed

I can't turn the gate valves off in the airing cupboard, so haven't attempted to remove the valve. They are stuck - tried penetrating oil
