Having just installed a new shower in the bathroom - 8.5kw with 10mm2 t&e cable, I am wondering whether I need earth bonding clamps on the pipes and bath.

Downstairs the earth cable from the fusebox to the ground is connected to the rising main just beyond where it enters the house. The wiring was done about 30 years ago, is it still valid now?

Thanks in advance for any advice

The earth wire from your consumers unit to your incoming water supply is not to connect it to ground, but to earth the water pipes, the electrical earth actually comes from the wire armouring or lead sheath of your main incoming cable. (i used to think that was how you get an earth when i was a kid, since the pipe goes into the earth that must be where it comes from, NOT)
