Showerv/Mixer tap worries! Help for a Newbie

Hi,

This is my first post here with a problem in my first house. I have a problem with my mixer tap/shower in my bathroom. First some background information....I have a hotwater tank and a tank in the loft for cold water.

The pressure is good for the cold water and ok for hot, however the mixer tap and shower attachment are very sensitive, up to the point of either freezing cold water or boiling hot water within say a 1mm turn of the tap...very fustrating....

Before I go out and buy a new tap assembly with shower attachment is there anything I am doing wrong or could try to see if it is rectifiable?

let me guess, have you used hot water from the cylinder and mains for the cold also is your hot supply run in 15mm. if so these factors wont help any

I am afraid so.....
