Will post photos when I'm on pc
However, new build house. Large shrinkage cracks against the wood on the stairs
I've tried decorators caulk and it's shrunk more now and looks silly - so I've removed all that.

What's best to fill it with? One strike or similar ??

if its a new build it would have been dry lined to the string (stairs pact of the wall an inch to allow for this ) your best bet is to fit quadrant on top of the string as there is a movement joint there which will always show

definately need pictures
are the cracks between string and wall or connecting structure or fully within the stair structure
how big are they

Had this when i renovated my stairs. You'll need some quadrant on top with caulk to fill in any further gaps.
