Shuttering trenches

Foundation trenches dug to solid ground which is about 1.1m. Nice hard sandy gravel, but the soil above is soft and crumbly. Had a right job with the sides collapsing in especially where I had to remove the inspection chamber where my foundations would have crossed. It's more of a crater here than a trench!

My idea is to shutter this area off to 600mm then backfill behind the boards. Is this normal practice BC will be ok with?

Shuttering will be fine.
It's how you support the shuttering that is important. We sometimes back fill the shutters as the concrete is being poured so that you get equal forces.
