Sidegate query

The slots in our sidegate allow you to see through it into our back garden (see pic attached). Does anyone have a tip for how we could cover/fill in these holes in a neat way that would make our property a little more secure?

fill the cracks with frame filler or decorators' caulk from a caulking gun. Do it from the street side and smooth off with finger. Might have to be in brown.
