Hi Everyone,

I've been offered a very good price on silicone rendering which is pre-coloured however my house is pebble dashed and wondered if there would be any problems applying this type of product over the pebble dash.

I've been told that the coating stops water getting in but allows the walls to breathe.

I wondered if the experts here could offer their thoughts and advice.

Thanks in advance for your help.

I cant see that working unless you knocked off the render and pebble-dash. You could do it over a smooth faced render but not over the irregular stone unless some new technique is on offer.

I assume that you are talking about insulated silicone render? What exactly did the contractor offer to do and how did he propose to do it?

You can render over existing pebbledash as long as it is properly prepped, any loose knocked off, blocked out , stabalised, and a base coat applied.

Then you have to consider the cill drips and extra depth.
