HELP! I recently bought a house with the above boiler which appears to be about 12 years old. I realise I will need to part with cash soon but on the whole the boiler appears quite serviceable.
My problem is the boiler fires up for central heating ok on the timer and runs normally but then occasionally cuts out. I only notice this when the house has become cold. Everything appears to be working fine when I go to the unit and if I switch the timer to 'off' on the clock / advance then leave it for a second or two then return the switch to 'timed' and the boiler fires up fine, happy days. Also occasionally if the heating is on and I run the hot water tap I just get cold water. If I repeat the previous step the Hot water returns on demand ok.
I am guessing that the C/H plus the demand of hot water is taking the unit over temp and the safety cut out is operating?
Can anyone help please? Is this a known fault? Am I barking up the wrong tree? ALL comments gratefully received just as the cold weather approaches.

A combi only provides HW or Ch but not both together.

You head with "overheating" but then go on the talk about not heating at all.

Obviously your boiler has a fault. have you ever had it serviced?

You will probably need a boiler engineer but few like that model and most will just want to replace it. You will need someone who specialises in repairs.
