Hi,
I know its difficult to say but wondered ball part what people think a garage brick built with pitched roof built to approx 14ft wide x 20ft long. This is the size from border to border, what would the actual floor space be for this garage after footings and walls and would it be adequate do you think.

Well you haven't said if the garage is detached or how thick your wall construction is (eg single skin or cavity).

You should probably consult your planning department with a sketch to see whether it's a goer. They may suggest you to check details with the local building control office. If you want electricity or heat particularly so.

As far as sizes go, carry a tape measure around with you to see what size everybody else uses. How wide is a standard garage door? Surely you can find that out and also find out sizes for "off the shelf" garages?
