Hi Again!

I am adding on a mere 3 rads onto a microbore system by cutting into the inlet/outlet before the manifold...

My question is would it be ok to do a single pipe system or should I go for the Feed & return system?

I have bedroom and an en-suite to heat upstairs and one rad downstairs.

Why mad to run one?

I am only talking 3 rads in a new extension and feeding direct off in and out pipework...

A lot easier, surely worth a go?

Dont be daft, run a flow and returns in 15mm as far as possible and then reduce to 10mm flow and return for rads, not worth the risk of trying a one pipe setup tagged onto a two pipe setup, sighhhhhhhhh.

You can take our advice or leave it, we don't have any axe to grind, with what experience we have non of us would give a single pipe system a second thought. If I'm asked to change any rads or anything on a single pipe system if they don't want me to upgrade to dual I walk away. Otherwise I would have to cancel all my work for the rest of the week while I try to get some heat into the rads.

In this area single pipe systems were fitted during a period of copper shortage, they were piped in steel.

I know copper is expensive at the moment, but it's not that expensive.

hey thats fine, I appreciate the advice, I will take it!!!

Just wanted to know why single pipe no good, but I will run twin now.

3 Reasons that I can think of in a hurry

1. Last rad on the run will not get as hot as the first
2. A blockage in a radiator or airlock cannot be forced through as the radiator will be bypassed
3. Noah had his one pipe system changed to a two pipe just before the floods subsided
