We have a 1 1/2 sink unit which was installed approx 2 years ago. I've noticed the middle unit has been leaking slightly into the cupboard below. On closer examination it looks like the end cap is leaking through the rubber seal on the end which looks like it may be perishing. What I can't understand though is why this cap has a rubber seal - why can't it it just be a solid end cap? Thanks in advance.

Sorry for the confusion - here is a pic - its the black cap and rubber seal within it I'm on about - there's actually another end cap you can just see round the back (the white one), which is just an end cap but its the black one which leaks as the rubber is on the way out. Thanks for any advice. [/img]

Looks like a franke 90mm sink waste/overflow.
As your not using the overflow easier to change the waste for a standard 90mm sink waste without overflow.

Thanks guys, is just getting an end cap an (easier) option?

most of the time it is just easier to go back to the start and do summutt properly/fully.

One thing i can't stand is wastes like that that are blocked off and leak and are never going to be used. Less chances of a leak the better.
