Hi, We live in the 1960 build property and last year we took the paper off from all bedroom walls.

Now we are planning to decorate the bedrooms. We looked at doing plaster skimming but it’s very expensive, also we have had not very good experience with plasterers who carried out work in our house during loft conversion.

I was wondering if it is okay to wash the walls first , skim them with easy fill and then sand them before applying any paint?

You can try. Eayfill is very easy to sand. The trouble with doing a whole wall is that you may not be able to get a flat finish. Lighting will show up the ups and downs. I do occasional small repairs with it and it's fine.
