Skimming again

I am patching a small area in a corner of an internal wall ~1m2 which has 2 layers of render, 2nd layer with Wickes 30:1 waterproofer. This is now completely dried out (had to go away) & I need to skim it to prevent the ear ache from you know who

1. Do I need to unibond or wet down the render before I put on the multi finish?
2. Do I need 2 coats? its only 1/4" to the level of the rest of the wall (& a bit uneven).

Total noob at plastering, so thanks for all the great advice on this forum

1/4" is a bit much for multi finish, you need to wet the wall, or pva it to control suction though.

So, just to be clear, 2 coats 5:1 pva 2nd coat tacky, then 2 (or more?) layers of multi.

6mm is too thick for multi. Id give a coat of bonding about 4mm first then two coats.of multi. That should take you out about 6/7mm

Just out of interest, why is 1/4" too thick for finish? Is it because you would end up using too much if you're doing a whole wall etc. or is there some other reason, like it won't be stable/crack/difficult to flatten etc.

PS I will deffo be getting a professional in if I have anything more than patching to do in future. Respect to you guys who make it look easy.
