Hi,

Just some reaasurance needed. Getting a plasterer in but want to know what to expect.

The picture with brick exposed will have a rad on it. The plaster is blown. My question is will a plasterer be able to cut a segment out of the blow plaster and replace with board and skim without disturbing more plaster?

The others are small issues but slightly blown is it a case if just get rid of loose material and fill with hardwall, mesh and skim. Is a simple patch and skim job industry standard for what is pictured on the smaller stuff

Dreading the room going back to brick.

I'd have that plaster off the wall back to brick then you have options.
Is that a cavity wall?
I'll guess it is so I'd point in bricks to make solid then you could fit insulated plasterboard over walls

Other option is backing plaster and skim or just dot and dab and skim walls.
I'd be looking to move those radiators pipes so they don't come out the floor.

As for your question.
Yes. You can just remove the cracked bits and dot and dab plasterboard in the areas, or backing plaster in those areas and skim but that's not a good job.

I would fix that myself before paying someone to skim (assuming you are skimming the whole room).

Remove ALL loose plaster. PVC/SBR, then apply browning - might need to build up in stages. Get it to a level where the pro can just skim over.

If they have to do that for you, then you are paying them for less-skilled work and waiting for it to dry.

Thanks. My idea was to cut a square patch of the blown plaster out and replace with board ready for skim.

As for the smaller holes, would you rake out and just go over with Hardwall or something else? I,ve used Hardwall before seems to be good but a bitch to skim over?

I'd use bonding with accelerator then skim when set but still wet with multi with accelerator.
It's called halftime. Speeds job up.

I don't think you are saving much doing yourself. Trade might not be happy to take responsibility for what you do
