I work in. low payed job , stay myself and have bills to pay.
3 years ago with the cold weather , something in loft burst and flooded the bathroom and hallway .
the ice also have the boiler fill up with water inside the casing and the pipes burst.out if the boiler.

so I have no heating or hot water.
ive had to clear loft out and take celing down, there is some.black mould.
I sleep in the bedroom with covers over me as its freezing and run a electric heater to keep warm .

I work as much as I can to stay warm , I have to fill.up bottles for cold water for sink and toiler. I have to wash at work as no water , have to use kettle.to boiler.water for.washing and drinks.

I overlooked my.insurance and its not been.renewed .

I can't afford.to.get a new.boiker fitted or pay one up because of credit .
is there anything I can do to get this sorted .

I own the house

I came back to a house with ceiling down and about 6 burst copper pipes in a bad winter

No previous plumbing experience but fixed it all up myself

Needs must and all that

I can do celing , its the boiler is burst , i need it replaced and cant afford it , so looking for avenues i can go down , like maby goverment help without recieving benefits.
I dont have much cash and I stay i. scotland

Is this a place u own ?
Is there a chimney is it well- insulated

I fitted a stove and assembled flue pipework, no previous experience there either

yes I own it ,there is no chimney , the boiker that is in just now is a glowworm fuelsaver 3 , the front panel.is off as it filled with water , the 2 pipes coming from storage tank in loft came out with being frozen .
its went rusty I side and sont know if it would be safe to give it a brush and clean out then fix pipes ans fire it up .

the pipes in loft I still need to find the leak , havent a clue where it came from.

Found this but appears as though assistance is only for heat pumps or similar, not conventional gas boilers.

Do you have the cash to even just get a registered gas engineer out to give the boiler the once over to advise if repair possible or replacement needed? Not even to service it or anything, just a preliminary check to advise if repairable.

ive asked a few and showed pictures and they said with age of boiler (1984) its hard to get parts and tbey suggested renewing
, i had to sorce stuff from ebay 7 years ago to fix it , the fan went and so did the controller board . had to get scottish gas to change the gas solenoid.

I could get just the boiler from ebay ,plenty ised ones in there , but its the getting it fitted , u less I do the work myself and get it commissioned by. a gas safe person

if I could get a goverment grant for replacement that would be good , but cant find any that does that unless you get benefits

Your electric heater is quite expensive to run. I find a small oil-filled radiator is good for keeping the chill off a single room, as is also very safe, as it does not get hot enough to start a fire, even if you accidentally drop paper or clothes on it.

Consider an electric blanket, which will keep you warm at night, and can also keep damp out of your bedding. Electricity cost is negligible.

If your bedroom ceiling is not already insulated, do that. It greatly reduces heat loss which will cut costs and improve comfort.

This is scandalous - no working person should have to live like this, while the other half of the population, plus foreigners, do not work, and live for nothing with free heating, drugs, cigarettes etc.

YOU pay for THEM. Your government hates you and will not help you at all.

John D's suggestions are good, for living on a shoestring.

OMG this is terrible, you are in a bad way and sounds like you have had a run of bad luck, I would suggest getting a gas fitter round to take a look to see if this boiler is worth repairing but sounds like everyone will just say it needs replacing. I would suggest buying a second hand one off ebay and getting it fitted to at least get the house warmed. up. Other alternatives is a new boiler on credit through British gas or seek help through citizens advice who will be able to put you in touch with charities or possibly government help.

You do not need to be in receipt of benefits to qualify for the Home Energy Scotland Grant and Loan Scheme.

Taken from the linked article I posted before. As I say though, it's only for 'greener' solutions, not conventional gas boilers.

I'm confused. You say that 3 years ago your boiler failed, and you've been living there ever since with no heating or hot water because you've not been able to afford to replace it, but not long after that catastrophe you were asking about replacing your entire CH system

hey , I'm looking for what a good price would be to renew my central heating system .

its a unvented system with tank in loft and cylinder next to boiler ., wantnit changed for combi

I want new piping change from 15 mm for flow and return , and 8mm to rads. to 22x15

boiler will stay where it is .

so house has 1 double 600x1200
2 singles 600x1200
1 single 600x600
(sizes are appropriate)

what will a plumber do , will they rip everything out including loft tank?
will they join pipework from mains to piping in loft for bathroom?

will they often flooring to put new pipes in ?

so if I get full package , boiler rads and 2 extra rads (column for kitchen, small 600x600 for hall

so price for full package?
price for package except rads (could change them myself)
price using existing pipes and rads. .

its a 2 bedroom bungalow with 1 toilet

don't want ripped off

And a couple of weeks ago you posted this:

hi . im getting my boiler converted from conventional to combi boiler .
the shower I have fitted at moment is a mira single head wall mounted digital shower,

I have bought a mira platinum shower (got it cheap) its a dual head shower , with arm and rainhead, this shower is celing fed .

the 2 showers can use the same head fitting , so I am going to keep the one thats built into wall and was hoping to add the rainhead separately.

I was thinking of buying the piping that would be needed for the rain head to go through celing onto the digital unit .

or is there a way I can fit it to the wall and connect pipes without ripping tiles off? .

the house is single story with loft , at other side of shower is a hallway .

any help appreciated

You say

I sleep in the bedroom with covers over me as its freezing and run a electric heater to keep warm ... I have to fill.up bottles for cold water for sink and toiler. I have to wash at work as no water , have to use kettle.to boiler.water for.washing and drinks.

But less than a year ago you said

I havent been staying in. house since it happened

Less than a year ago you said

the boiler has never been used since .

and yet after the freeze event which caused pipes to pop out and the whole boiler casing to fill with water you posted this, showing that you were running the boiler:

boiler doesn't make noises , it will stay on for 10 mins when first put on then reduce .
its a fuelsaver f35 , ,discontinued in 1991,
pump runs , and diverted is diverting , I don't know if its anything to do with the hw and ch being on at same time

and said nothing about the freeze and flooding.

I wanted a price for a full system as I dont k ow what condition the pipes are in , so was feeling about for prices , and I wasn't staying in house at that time as I was working away , and of course the boiler hasnt been used since , and I didn't want anyone to know my situation. the boiler is rusted Inside .
I will.when I get a chance take pictures of its damage , and post to get thoughts
