skint and no heating

Wood burners appear to be getting popular in particular if you have access to wood ????

Stone Age technology burning wood ( lol)

It's good that we can have the bathroom window open close to the heat pump, and the worst that will enter the room is cold fresh air coming out of the heat pump.

Oil boilers and wood both stink and are extremely bad for your health and your neighbours'.

Plus we're not depending on anyone bringing us more fuel in a truck, keeping an eye on levels etc. I've read that people needing oil just can't get a delivery right now, or are paying huge prices. We just stay warm, with absolutely no effort at all.

We're not eco-warriors, heat pumps just make sense. If you include the £7500 grant then they probably make sense for anyone on gas who needs a new boiler. For anyone (like us) starting from scratch with no mains gas then it was the only sensible option.

There's a lot of dodgy misinformation and ranting about heat pumps. Some is valid, early ones were terrible and anything installed badly will be rubbish. We've got some pretty big radiators, the main loop is 28mm pipe, but that's just what's needed, really not a big deal at all - it's just how heating is now done.
