Hi guys,

Went to champion timber a couple of days ago to look at their range of skirting boards and architrave and brought back some samples. Firstly the architrave we liked is not anything too chunky, this means that it is thinner than the skirting board we liked is thick, so they don't join cleanly at the bottom?

Is this a general way to choose them. Ensure they join at the same level?

Also, should I buy pine or mdf? I stayed away from mdf, just because it sounds cheap and we want a nicely shaped style. Does it really matter once painted white though?

Any recomendations on where to buy it at a reasonable price?

The archies and skirts should be the same thickness.

If one is going to be thicker than t'uther then the archies should always be thicker than the skirts.

You can fit archie-skirt junction blocks to overcome the differential but this is time consuming and not to everyones taste.
