We're just about to start redecorating and tidying our living room/diner in out 1950's wimpey house. The PO has nailgunned skirting along one wall that's completely the wrong level, height, and profile compared to the rest of it, so we're planning on removing that, as to be frank it looks damn stupid.

The "Original" skirting is just plain, with a bevelled top. Standard Wimpey/Council issue.

My question is, would this be a standard things stocked in places like B&Q etc, or would we need to take measurements or maybe a bit of the existing in to get a match?

And when we do get some and cut it all to fit, is it best to paint it before fitting, or afterwards?

Cheers all.

Very probably just simple 3 or 4 inch bullnose , very common and still readily available .
Personally I prefer to paint it first , including the back , fix and then touch up afterwards or at least prime and undercoat first.

Why do you want to keep the old cheap plain skirting, instead of changing it for something nicer?

The sheds might have skirting that matches but take measurements to be sure.

This company have an amazing range of profiles, thicknesses and heights. Have used them and they're good quality.
