I recently had some skirting board fitted around my newly plastered wall.
On one side there is a 5mm gap between the skirting and the wall.
the carpenter said that if I fill it with caulk it won’t be as noticeable when you paint it.
However just looking at it I feel like the gap is too big to be caulked and I will definitely notice it even after being painted.

I am after some advice, should I ask the plasterer to come back and level the wall or do I ask the carpenter to follow the wall rather than cut at a 45 degree angle? Who’s at fault here

Take a long straight edge, and check which is out - the wall, or the skirting.
