I hope this is in the right forum.

I am putting skirting into a room in an old cottage. The walls are lime plastered and not exactly straight and uneven. The uneveness is not too bad, but there are gaps between the skirting board and the wall in places. I think they are too big to just use decorators caulk.

Any suggestions as to what to use to fill the gaps? The floor is floorboards so will get some movement I would imagine.

It varies as there are different gaps along the wall. Some are as small as a couple of mm some as big as 1cm.
