Sky box loosing connection issue?

I have a similar post up but it's about mounting a sky glass but I would love some advice as to the reason we are getting sky glass.

Sp the reason we are getting sky glass tv is because since we moved in 1 year agol every couple of days the network losses connection on the sky box looses connection to the sky hub and asked ages to reset it. We have done everything moved the hub closer even though it's only 12 feet away, changed hubs changed boxes had 3 different engineers out, added a booster etc etc and after a year we are sick of the issue. So we were told that if we get sky glass we won't have that issue anymore as it's not going to need to be connected via the WiFi network to the box anymore. Does that sound right?

Also have been told we could just get a ethernet cable and connect the sky box to the sky hub and then the sky box wouldn't keep disconnecting from the sky network connection? Do you think we should just do this?

I hope the new sky glass has better picture than my current tv? Is there anyway to know?

Try a cable from the router to the tv before you do anything else and if this proves successful either keep the cable or download acrylic suite onto a pc or laptop and check if any of your neighbours are using the same channel as you

I spoke to another sky advisor just now and she said that switching to sky glass most probably won't resolve the broadband issue, it's just like switching from a iPad to a phone.
She said that an ethernet cable is probably the best option. So Im going to try an ethrrnet cable.

Maybe still go ahead with glass as its already ordered. Just not sure if it will be good. I was worried that we won't have a recordings list and will have a My list. Not sure if we will like that
But guess that's the same with Netflix and that's fine.

Use the ethernet cable, cancel sky glass unless it works out cheaper. My box kept losing the connection till I ran an ethernet cable. Been okay since.

You don't sound convinced by sky glass.

I don't want to drill more holes into the wall weither as there are electric cables not far from the current wall mount and don't want to change to any glass wall mount.

If it’s the boxes Wi-Fi which is poor you could use one of these to connect Wi-Fi with Ethernet without running cables.

Purely based on potential costs. I don't know what the latest packages are but I shall be binning sky when my contract is up.

Wi-Fi repeaters (range extenders) do indeed improve the coverage of Wi-Fi. What is less well known is that there's a speed penalty when running the range extender in Wi-Fi mode. Catching the router's Wi-Fi signal the rebroadcasting it has a speed penalty. It halves whatever Wi-Fi connection speed your router can provide. This might not matter if all you're doing is watching a bit of BBC iPlayer or ITV X. However, if you have a house full of wirelessly connected devices in regular use then you might want to consider a wired connection.

TLR - no, a wireless repeater isn't as good as a piece of Ethernet cable. You'll lose half your transmission speed going via an extender.

It doesn’t boost the signal but allows an ethernet only device to connect via Wi-Fi .

I've connected the box to the router via an ethernet cable but it's not recognising it even though I followed the instructions with a sky adviser. They have booked me an appointment for a sky engineer to come out in 10 days to connect my sky router with the sky box. Well it's already connected but cant get it to reconise it. Probably really easy.

Probably really easy.

It should just be a matter of plugging the cable end, into the Sky box, at one end, and doing the same at the router end. No configuration necessary, no passwords, nothing.

Switch off the sky option for wifi. Unplug the sky box and the router, connect the ethernet cable, plug in the router once its up and running, plug in the sky box and switch on.

Thanks. Sorted now. You know where you get the 3 options first ti's connect via WiFi and the 2nd not sure maybe broadband and the 3rd via an ethernet cable. I selected ethernet cable and it worked right away.

How what's strange is why does it have a different name on the network on the tv to the name on the bottom of the aky router? The network name on tv says SKY****( but on the bottom of router it says sky****? I've blanked out the full name of the network name.
I was worried maybe I was somehow connected to a neighbour so I called sky and they said the Sky q box has probably picked up the name of the neighbours sky network and not to worry as you cant possibly be using theirs as they are all password protected.
I searched online and some people with the same issue said that it could be the mesh name of the sky booster or the mesh name of the sky q box?
