Slate Roof Joint?

Hi guys,

I am currently getting my roof done on my semi detached house, new slate and waterproof membrane, what is the proper name for the plastic strip that the roofers have used to separate my roof with my neighbours? It is arched in shape and looks really unsightly, there are other semi detached houses on my street that also have this plastic separating strip but there's doesn't stick up as much and seems to be a lot lower profile and looks so much tidier.

Thanks...After searching on google and finding some info on "grp bonding gutter" it looks like they have used the product for High profile Tiles and not the Low profile stuff for Slate

Another quick question, what is the plastic edging that covers the edge of the over hanging slate on the gable end called? I have seen this on other roofs of the same type but I dont have one
