My old wooden sledge hammer is broken and i need to knock down a few internal single block and external solid walls.

What is the most useable weight to go for out of 7lb, 10lb or 14lb. I am a big chap who can swing any with no problems but what do people normally go for and why?

A larger one will take more to swing obviously, but it will impact a bigger whack.

Anyway, the answer is one that doesn't fatigue you unduly. So a 50g hammer for me

7lb with a plastic handle. Big enough to dismantle heavy flooring, for light to medium masonry demo, for timber structure installation and even light enough for knocking t&g ply or chipboard together whilst also being light enough to be used for moderate periods. But then I always was a bit of a wimp
