Slipped disc - an end to building and DIY?

Slipped disc, no such thing!
It's the soft tissue between the vertebrae that has moved and bulged out, which is causing the pain.
See your GP, you may need a scan, injections, painkillers, bed rest or at worst an OP.
I had this problem a few years back in the lower back, it took me about 7 weeks to recover to normal. If I ever was normal, that is

No, DONT see a GP, they dont know what there talking about!!!!!!!!!! And Osteopaths arent back specialists, there BONE specialists!!!!!!A chiropractor will sort it with no scans, no injections, no pills and no operations. U need a specialist, and GP's are not specialists, they know a little about everything and not much about most things!!!!! Especially Backs!! And Osteopaths do not specialise in backs or soft tissue!!!![/quote]

Who mentioned Osteopaths :?:
If your using your local doctors surgery, you are not going to be seen by a specialist in back injuries. unless your lucky and there is one at your surgery(some are), if not you will be referred to one.
If you don't visit your Local GP for preliminary examinations your a fool!

Lincs, i can agree with you except for 2 points.
An osteopath can definitely cure some back problems, as can a chiro.
You do need to see a GP so that an injury can be recorded on your medical notes. Plus, if you are off for a long time you may need to claim sickness benefits, for which you will need a GPs sick note.

it showed as the plumbing forum. has someone panicked in CC
