slotted or unslotted

hi all.
im in the process of gutting the bathroom and re-fitting. i would like to learn as i go along and basically have a go.
we wanted a glass basin on a unit/stand and going to buy a sink mixer tap.
i see that the glass basin will have no overfill hole so i take it i need unslotted waste bottle trap.
budget is tight so ebay is an option but most do not say slotted/unslotted. is there a way to tell or does it even make a difference?
any help please

Your waste and trap are seperate items.
You need to look for an unslotted basin waste (1" 1/4) to which you can attach any 1" 1/4 trap.

I hope all the readers have noted that these ( dreadful ) things don't have an over flow ( except onto the floor! ).

They also break when you drop an aftershave bottle on them by accident.
