Slow running waste in Kitchen.

Hi.

The problem is that the water from the kitchen waste runs away very slowly.
There is the usual S bend and also a washing machine is plumbed into the waste pipe, The waste pipe (32mm) then passes through the wall and then along the outside wall for approx 10 feet before joining into the main down pipe to the drain. The fall of the waste pipe outside seems sufficient.

Is the problem caused by the sheer length of the waste pipe? Would fitting a hopper help?

Kitchen sink wastes are usually run in 40mm pipe rather than 32mm. The smaller pipe will only allow about 2/3rds the maximum flow of the larger.

The point where the 40mm trap is reduced to the 32mm pipe will be very prone to blockages. Even with the best intentions, more than just water goes down a kitchen sink waste.

A reduction in flow rate from a change in pipe size after the trap may allow sediment to settle in the trap instead of being regularly scoured by a higher flow.

The total length of the waste run is approaching the maximum recommended length for 40mm waste pipe as well, so 32mm will definitely struggle.

you could try cleaning out the trap

and put some caustic down the drain (be carefull)
