I need to build a small fence in my front garden to stop fly tipping from the main road. I've attached picture taken from the road - see picture attached. I was thinking of inserting a wooden post by each of the brick pillars and attaching a wire mesh using a nail gun. Not done this before so not sure this is the best way of putting up the fence - any advice is appreciated. Thanks.

I can see why you'd want them only on the pillars but I suspect the spacing is a bit much and the mesh would sag. What kind of mesh did you have in mind?

keep in mind your restricted to 1m fence height from the ground unless its very old then it may be 4ft
or as above a hedge can go taller

Rather than fly-tipping, I would suggest passers-by see over your wall, to be a convenient place to dump their drinks cans, F&C papers, and pizza boxes. There was a similar local problem, someone suffered where their house was at a bus-stop. They were constantly clearing up the rubbish, and were disabled, the problem was, there was no convenient council bin near, so it all ended up over the wall.

What I did, was had words with out local councillor, to have a bin put there, which almost entirely solved the issue.

I tend to agree that any “preventative “ will simply provide a more convenient place to dump stuff.
However the idea of trellis is good.
You could use posts screwed to the rear of the wall to support trellis - be aware that vandals could use it as a lever (but unlikely)
A local fence supplier could make you custom trellis to fit the spacing of your pillars. (More expensive)
Legally there is a limit on height but you might get away with it due to the trees behind.

Maybe lay a tarp like fabric on the ground behind the wall to make rubbish collection easier? In addition to the fence.
Friends had a big hedge near a school and the kids used to poke all sorts into the branches

Thanks everyone - appreciate the useful advice. I've replied to each of you below:

I realised the spacing is too wide so probably not a good idea
Plant a hedge?
Something to think about
Trellis looks good...assume I would attach that to wooden posts

fly tipping I'm getting is building rubble, soil from someone's garden dumped in bin liners and more recently 3 bin liners of new years eve food and party rubbish ( i'm guessing)

Good ideas - will look into the trellis and maybe even a custom one

I have cctv...unfortunately tree blocks the cameras in corner of the front garden.
